How do enable Windows Defender on my computer?
You can only enable Windows Defender if there are no other anti-virus programs installed on your computer. If you uninstall all alternative anti-virus programs, Windows Defender will turn back on automatically.
- Click on the Start button
- In the search box, type Security and open Windows Security from the search results
- If an option in the protection area is green and displays a tick, it is turned on and enabled. You don't need to take any further action
- If an option in the protection area is yellow, there is a safety recommendation in that option to check.
- If the option in the protection area is red and displays a cross, it is turned off and not enabled. Select the protection area and select the protection area settings. Here you can switch the On/Off slider to On to enable the protection.
