A personal Firewall is a piece of software which monitors all the traffic to and from your computer and can block any unauthorised activity.

There are plenty of Firewalls to choose from. Some large Anti-virus software vendors like Norton and McAfee supply firewalls in their security suites. These are usually subscription-based. There are others that are free for personal use and can be downloaded from the Internet, for example Zone Alarm .
