Removal of PC administrator privileges from staff user accounts

To help protect your computer from virus attacks, hacking or misuse by a third party, the account you log in with and use day to day should not have local administrator priviliges.

This is a requirement for our Cyber Essentials certification (More information here), which is a pre-requisite for some research funding.

Information Services will be removing the local administrator priviliges for user accounts from PAU domain computer as follows:

Faculty of Business and Physical Sciences Completed
Faculty of Earth and Social Sciences Completed
Learning Teaching and Student Experience Completed
Research Knowledge Exchange and Innovation Completed
Vice Chancellors Office Completed
Welsh Language Culture and External Engagement Completed
All remaining departments 13 May 2019

If you need to install or update software that requires administrator priviliges please contact Information Services (How do I do that?) and we will try to facilitate this via the Software Centre (What is this?)

Remote desktop

If you use Remote Desktop Connection to connect to your computer from elsewhere you will need to install this on your computer (How do I do that?)
