How do I know what the User Roles in Blackboard are in relation to the Modules Database? (Staff)
Tutors can be added to a module in AStRA with a specific role, these will provide the user with the following access levels in Blackboard:

Note: Individuals can have only one role per module, so consider which level of access best meets your needs.
Lecturer 01
Can only be added by the Timetable Office. All other roles can be added via AStRA.
Instructor, Tutor, and Teaching Assistant
Gives access to almost everything in the Control Panel for those modules. Anyone assigned one of the first three roles in the Modules system will appear on the staff list for that module in Blackboard and on the Module Information web page. Instructors and Teaching Assistants have access to the Turnitin and Blackboard Assignment tools. In the Blackboard under tools, students automatically have access to the email addresses of all Instructors and Teaching Assistants.
Marker
Only gives access to the Grade Centre. Note: Graders only get access to a module when it's live. Markers have access to the Turnitin and Blackboard Assignment tools. Graders do not appear to students as teaching staff in the Blackboard module and are not listed on the Module Information web page
Course Builder
Gives you access to everything in the Control Panel except the Assessment section. Course Builders are NOT able to access the Turnitin or Blackboard Assignment tools via the Grade Centre or Course Tools > Turnitin Assignemnts. They are able to view hidden content, edit content items, and view a list of student names and emails via Users. Course Builders can still access the module even if it isn't live. Course Builders also do not appear to students as teaching staff in the Blackboard module. Course Builders appear on the Module Information web page.
Departmental Administrator
Gives access to almost everything in the Control Panel for those modules. Staff assigned the Departmental Administrator role will not appear on the module database, Departmental Administrators have access to the Turnitin and Blackboard Assignment tools. In the Blackboard under tools, students automatically have access to the email addresses of all Departmental Administrators. Departmental Administrators do not appear to students as teaching staff in the Blackboard module, or on the Module Information web page.
Subject Librarian
Is reserved for members of the Information Services Academic Services team. It allows the Academic Services staff to view available module content for purposes of checking reading lists and supporting students. Subject Librarians do not appear on the Module Information web page.
Course Viewer
May be used to allow staff to view resources in the module. Only available materials and Panopto recordings are visible. Course Viewers do not appear on the Module Information web page.
Additional Lecturer
Is a direct copy of Instructor role. It is a good role for staff needing to undertake some marking in the module. It is not linked to the timetable so should only be used for staff not taking part in timetabled activities. Additional Lecturers appear on the Module Information Web page.
Additional Tutor
Is a direct copy of the Course Builder role. It is a good role for staff needing to add course materials or view materials in the module. It does not have access to Turnitin so cannot be used for anyone needing to do marking. It is not linked to the timetable so should only be used for staff not taking part in timetabled activities. Additional Tutors appear on the Module Information web paage.
External Examiner
Is a direct copy of the Instructor role. It allows access to Turnitin and the Grade Centre. External Examiners should be advised not to alter any materials or marks. External Examiners are not listed on the Module Information web page.
Student
Gives access to view the Blackboard module. There is no access to the Control Panel. Registered students are automatically assigned this role.
