How do I add a new Course Entry Page to my Blackboard module? (Staff)

Blackboard has the facility to change the module entry page, so rather than having the announcements as the module entry page, you can set up a personalised homepage.

Creating a personalised homepage

To create a personalised homepage go to:

  • the module you wish the change the module entry page for
  • the white cross in the top left hand corner of the module menu
  • Module Page

  • Give the new page a name e.g. homepage, tick the box to make it available to users and click Submit.

  • The new page will appear at the bottom of the menu. You may drag this up to the top of the course menu, How do I do that?
  • To add new items to this page, go to the new page through the menu
  • Click on Add Course Module
  • The default modules for new modules are:
    • My Announcements
    • My Calendar
    • What’s New
    • Alerts

  • Select modules to add to your new Course Entry Page by clicking Add and OK

Setting the course entry point

To set the new personalised homepage as your module entry point go the Control Panel and select:

  • Customization
  • Teaching Style
  • the name of your new page e.g. Homepage under Select Course Entry Point
  • Submit

This will now be the first page staff and students see when they access the module.
