What is a cookie?

A cookie is a text file that websites save onto your hard drive, containing small pieces of information about your visits to the site. This can include the links that you have previously visited, information entered into forms that are present on the website, or preferences set on any layout or presentation options they may have.

 

This information is then used to tailor the website using the information saved in a cookie for any future visits.
