How do I recover a document I have deleted in error from SharePoint?

  • Navigate to the site you have deleted your document from
  • Click on the Cog in the top right hand corner:
  • Choose Site Contents from the menu that appears
  • This will display all the different elements in your site - in the top right hand corner click on the link called RECYCLE BIN:
  • You will see a list of the documents you deleted
  • Tick the box next to the document you wish to recover and choose Restore Selection:
  • Your document will be restored to the folder it was deleted from

Please note: - the retention period for deleted documents is set by Microsoft and is currently set at 90 days
