I cannot see my shared filestore on office.disk.aber.ac.uk, what can I do?

Please carry out the following steps if you can't view or connect to a shared filestore:

  • If you have recently been given permissions by the owner, you will have to wait 15 minutes and then restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
  • If you have recently changed role or department, your access permissions will have been removed. Please contact the owner of the shared filestore who is able to re-add your permissions.
  • Ask the owner of the shared filestore to check whether they have granted you with permission to access the drive. They can view shared filestore permissions in MyAccount.
  • Restart your computer to see if the shared filestore maps successfully to your computer.
  • Check your internet connection. Are you able to access websites? If not, you may be experiencing networking issues.
  • If you are off campus, you will need to connect to VPN to access your shared filestore
  • If you are using a wireless connection, you will need to connect to the network from the login screen before logging in to the computer. Alternatively, you can manually connect to a shared filestore
  • If you can access the shared filestore but can't save any files, the shared filestore may be full. Please contact the owner of the shared filestore who can contact Information Services to arrange an extension.
  • If you can access the shared filestore but can't save any files, check with the owner of the shared filestore to see if you only have read access permissions. This means that you can only read files and not save or make any changes to them.
  • If the issue continues, please contact Information Services for further assistance.
