How do I access e-resources off campus?
- Download and install the LibKey Nomad browser extension to your device (How do I do that?)
- Sign into Primo before you begin any library searching (How do I do that?)
When you search Primo and find an ebook, ejournal, online journal article or database
- click the title to open the details
- click View Online in the left menu and follow the off-campus advice which may be
Primo: Aberystwyth University log in required off campus
- Click the live publisher link, which in this example is: VLeBooks
As you have already signed into Primo, you will be able to read the ebook off -campus.
Primo: Off-campus: please use VPN
There are a small number of resources which require you to install and run GlobalProtect VPN on your device (How do I do that?)
Once you have done so
- Click the live publisher link, which in this example is: IBISWorld
You will be able to read content from this database off-campus.
Primo: Access information is provided at the online Password List ...
- Click online Password list and in the page that appears click Resource-specific username and password list
- Note the credentials for the resource you have found
- Back on the Primo search result page, click the live publisher link, which in this example is: Miscellaneous E-journals
- Use the credentials from the password list to read the journal / journal article off-campus.
When searching other online resources: where you find an @aber button
If you are searching other online resources you may find @aber or Find a copy buttons displayed with your search results
- click @aber or Find a copy to check if the resource is available at AU via Primo; if it is, follow the authentication advice as described above
When you are visiting another university
If you are visiting another university you can connect your own computer to their network. You will need to set up the Janet Roaming Service on your computer before you leave Aberystwyth. These are the participating institutions in the UK ( Which are these? ) and internationally ( Where are these? ).
