How do I insert a link to a different location in the same web page in the CMS?
- Log in to the CMS at https://cms.aber.ac.uk/.
- Find the page you need to edit in the CMS site structure (How do I do that?).
- Click on the name of the section.
- Click on the Content tab.
- Find the appropriate piece of content where the link should be added and click on its name.
- Create the 'anchor' (the place you want to link to):
- Place your mouse at the point in the page where you want the anchor to be.
- Click on the Insert/Edit Link button in the menu and choose 'Insert anchor'.
- The Anchor window pops up:
- Type the name of your new anchor in the ID box and click the Save button to add it.
- You will now see a small anchor symbol has appeared in the content editor to mark this anchor's location.
- Create the link:
- Type the text that is to be used as the link text. Note: Link text should be self-explanatory and the user should know where the link is taking them.
- Select the text and click on the Insert/Edit Link button in the menu. Choose 'Link to external site'.
- The Insert/Edit Link window pops up:
- Insert the name of your anchor with a # in front of it in the URL box.
- Don't make any other changes. Click on the 'Save' button to add the link.
- Your link to another point in your page has now been created.
- Click on the 'Save changes' button in the main content editor window to save your work.
Note: In order for the change to go live the content will need to be approved.
