How do I share my screen in MS Teams and see the chat at the same time?
The best way to share content and keep a track of the meeting is to use two monitors. This way you can use one monitor to follow the meeting and the other to share content.
If you only have one monitor you can share your PowerPoint slides directly in the meeting, instead of sharing your whole screen. To do this you will have to:
- Select the Share Content button. Select your PowerPoint presentation from the list of recently opened presentations.
- Click on Browse if you don't see the one you are looking for.
- Once you’ve selected your PowerPoint presentation it will appear within the call and you can use the slide deck to navigate between slides whilst also being able to keep track of the chat.
Please note that sharing your presentation in this way does not allow you to see your PowerPoint presenter notes.
If you need to share your whole screen and don’t have two monitors, then you won’t be able to see the chat function. You could either ask a student to monitor the chat for you or you could stop sharing your screen from time to time to check what has been posted in the chat.
