How are aber.ac.uk email addresses allocated?

IT accounts are created and updated from:

• AStRA (the student registation system) for students
• ABW (the Human Resources systems) for staff, including visiting, honorary and external staff, for ecample External Examiners.

Usernames are based on users initials, as they appear on those systems.

If that username has been registered before, they will be allocated a three letter code followed by the lowest available numeric digit to ensure that the username is unique.

Usernames are unique to individuals and cannot be reallocated or reused once they have been deleted from our systems.
