How do I set up a SSH key to connect to central.aber.ac.uk

You must perform these steps while connected to the University network or the VPN

Open a terminal application

• Windows 10/11 
  • Click on the start menu
  • Type in CMD and open
• Mac
  • Open Applications
    • Utilities
    • Terminal
• Linux
  • Terminal

• Type in the following command and hit enter ssh-keygen -t ed25519
• Copy the contents of ed25519.pub
  • If you are using Windows open with notepad
• ssh username@central.aber.ac.uk (e.g. abc12@central.aber.ac.uk) 
• Add the contents of ed25519.pub to .ssh/authorized_keys

Once you setup your key you will then be able to connect using it in future.
