How do I add a new page in the Student Hub? (Staff)

  • Create the page (view Microsoft guidance on creating pages):

    • Access the site where you want to add the page in your preferred web browser
    • If you have edit permissions on the site you will see a ‘+ New’ link at the top left of the page
    • Click on ‘+ New’ and select ‘Page’
    • On the ‘Page templates’ screen choose your starting point – ‘Blank’ is the basic template which is used most often but you can try out the others if you wish
    • Click the Create page button on the bottom right of the screen to continue
    • You can now edit the page

  • Title Area (view Microsoft guidance on customising the title area)

    • At the top of the screen is an area where you can add an image if you wish and can adjust how the top of the page is displayed
    • To add or edit the image, click on the image icon at the top left of the page
    • Choose your image from either:
      • Recent – recently used images
      • Stock images – a collection of free to use images covering a wide range of topics. You can search for a keyword to find suitable images
      • Web search (not recommended)
      • OneDrive – this allows you to choose an image that is stored on your personal OneDrive
      • Site – this allows you to browse the folders on your site to find an image that is stored there
      • Upload – this allows you to upload an image from your computer
      • From a link (not recommended)
    • You can change the focal point of the image by dragging the focal point icon that appears over the image
    • You can change the style of the header by clicking on ‘Overlap’ and selecting one of the other options (Image and title, Plain, or Color block)
    • Add the title of the page in the ‘Add a title’ area
    • If you don’t wish to have your name at the top of the page or want to change it to someone else, mouse over and click the x that appears on the right of your name

  • Page content

    • Your page will have at least one text area to begin with. If that’s all you need just create your content within this box
    • If you need other sections on the page (web parts) you can add them by putting your mouse above or below existing content so that a + symbol appears, click on the + and choose the type of content you wish to add.
    • The Student Hub page editing FAQ gives more information on working with the main types of web part.
    • View Microsoft guidance on using web parts on SharePoint pages.
