How do I obtain a digital ID for signing and encrypting e-mail?

A digital ID (also known as a digital certificate) can be used in conjunction with Microsoft Outlook to prove your identity when sending an email. If the person you are emailing also has a digital ID, you may choose to encrypt the email sent to them, for added security. (How do I do that?)

Please note that you need to use the same web browser to apply for and receive the certificate.

The Certificate Authority should provide you with instructions for installing the digital id on your computer. We recommend that you back up your digital certificate.
