How do I install Windows on my departmental computer?

IT Services will install or upgrade Windows on university owned computers free of charge. To do this:

• First, find your computer's name.
• Send this to IT Services.
  • Please then wait for us to respond as we need to confirm that your computer is compatible with Windows.
• If it is compatible, please back up any important files.
• Then, bring it to the Hugh Owen Library help desk.
  • We will take it in for the upgrade, and supply you with a temporary laptop to use in the meantime.
    
    

As part of this service, we can also assist with:

• Backing-up and transferring your existing data
• Installing software and drivers 
• Adding shared filestores
• Connecting to the network and other university systems
• Troubleshooting
